Snowy Fun

Ok...ok...I know I have been absent from this blog for a couple of weeks....again. Since I decided to make several of my gifts this year...and waited a little too long to start (I wouldn't do that!!)....I was kind of busy (really busy) the last couple of weeks before Christmas! I really enjoyed making all of the gifts that I got done and I think that the recipients liked them too. I've got some photos of them and will get them posted soon since I couldn't do it before the holiday as that would've ruined the surprise!

Now that Christmas is over and the new year has started, my goal for this year is to finish some of the projects that I started awhile ago. We'll see how that goes! I've already started on two of them. One is a 'Cars' quilt for V, which is turning out really cute. And the other is a baby quilt for R (I know...she's 5 now!!). I've had the top done and have had it sandwiched for quite some time now but have been avoiding quilting it because I don't know how to hand quilt. I found a great video tutorial online, so I've finally started it! I don't have much done yet as hand quilting takes awhile and I am learning, so my stitches aren't the greatest. But they are getting better!

So this is what we've been doing in the snow lately. This was the first big snowfall that we received this year and my kids took full advantage!! We generally get quite a bit of snow where we live but it took a little bit longer to reach us this year.....well, it just seemed like it compared to last year!! Holy cow, did we have a lot of snow last year!!

V likes to help scoop with his tractor....

...and catch snowflakes on his tongue.

Boots loves to go outside but he doesn't like to walk in the snow....doesn't work out so well here! He avoids it as much as possible.

We have a small hill in our backyard that the kids can play on without having to pack the sleds and everyone in the truck. The first thing R did was grab the sled and head down the hill!

V crashed on his turn and thought it was hilarious!

E is not so big on actually going down the hill but is willing to help get the sled situated.

He stayed upright this time! We go to the hospital hill to sled, too, which is a pretty big hill and the kids have so much fun doing that! We went last week one time when it was above freezing and still snow on the ground and it was such a beautiful day to be out and having fun in the snow with the kids. We has so much fun!

And this is the Christmas photo that I took of the kiddos for the Christmas cards. We took some earlier in the day and they were horrible!! They were crying because it was cold and whatnot! So we went back out later and took some really quick ones...and they smiled (or at least looked at me! Close enough!) because of a little ice cream bribery!! Hey, I gotta make them smileish somehow!!

I hope your Christmas was as merry as ours! We had a great time with our families! I got all of the decorations down this week and now it is really bare in here! Oh, and my hubby fixed the dishwasher so the year is starting out not having to wash dishes by hand!! Woo-hoo! Sorry Laura!!

Happy New Year to you all. I hope you have a great one! I'm planning on it!

Keeping Things Fun!
