Dry Erase Calendar

I got this idea from here on Get Your Craft On, and again from here on Tatertots and Jello. I love the one on Get Your Craft On that has the babysitter info on it. I've yet to be brave enough to find someone I don't know to watch my kids! One day Joe and I will go on a date!! One day! My oldest is starting kindergarten this year so I wanted to make a calendar to try and keep everything somewhat organized.

Supplies you will need: an old frame with glass, fabric that's not to0 dark and not too busy (so you can see what you write), thread, glue gun, dry erase markers, ruler (a quilter's ruler works great), washable fabric pen, scissors.

1. Take the backing out of the frame and place it on the right side of your fabric. Trace around the backing. Cut the fabric about 2" wider on all sides. It doesn't have to be perfect.

2. Measure your backing. Mine was 16 x 20. So I divided 16 by 6 because calendars had 5 weeks on them and I wanted enough room at the top for writing the month. It came out to be 2.666 so I marked my measurements every 2.5 inches, starting at the bottom so you end up with more space at the top. Then I divided 20 by 7 because, well, there's 7 days in a week! It came out to 2.85 so I marked my measurements every 2.75 inches, starting from the right so that Saturday has the most space when you're done. Use your washable fabric pen to make little marks along the edges before you draw the lines to make sure you have the marks where you want them.

3. Draw the lines all the way across and up and down. On the up and down lines, make sure you stop where the big box will be to write the month in.

4. Sew on your lines. You don't need to do the outside lines and, again, make sure you stop where the big box is where you will write the month.

This is what it looks like with the lines sewn on it.

5. Place the cardboard backing on the wrong side of your fabric. Hot glue it on the back all the way around, making sure you have the backing centered on your calendar.

This is what it looks like all glued down.

Here's what it looks like from the front after gluing it down.

6. Push it down into your picture frame and push the little tongs down.

Ta-da! You're all finished!

7. Use your dry erase markers to write the month at the top and little numbers in the corners of each box.

My picture frame didn't have a hook on it to hang it up, so I'll have to get me one of those and get it hung up!
